Ernie J. Hedman

Ernie J. Hedman, age 76, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at his residence in Watertown.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.  Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate. 

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and prior to services at the chapel on Friday. 

Burial will be at later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.  

Ernie was born on February 3, 1948, in Bartlesville, OK, to Carl and Stella (Newton) Hedman. 

Ernie joined the United States Navy at the age of 16 years old where he served twenty one years.  After his retirement from the USN, Ernie worked at Rohm and Hass Chemical Plant in CA before moving to Watertown in 2005. 

On February 14, 1969, Ernie married Karen Geiss and the couple raised three children together.

Ernie enjoyed to hunt, fish, play a game of poker, sit on his porch blaring his music, motorcycles, gnomes, and spending time with his family.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Karen, of Watertown; children Michael (Corinna) Hedman, Kevin (Heather) Hedman, and Dave Hedman, all of Watertown; grandchildren, Crystal, Gage, Starla, Austin, Stella, Olivia, and Zion; one great-grandchild, Lillian; three brothers, Mickey (Sandra) Hedman, of OK, CJ Hedman, of ND, and Jerry (Brenda) Hedman, of OK; and three sisters, Nina (Gary) Morgan, June (Rick) Fowler, Linda Hedman James Peters, all of OK.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Mary Geiss; and sister-in-law Lynette Geiss.
