Erna Namken Obituary
Erna Namken, age 88, of Lake Norden, SD, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Avantara in Lake Norden. A Private family service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Hayti Lutheran Church in Hayti, SD. Rev. Randy Eisenbeisz will officiate. Masks are appreciated. Music will be provided by Lisa Pederson.
The service will be live streamed via the church website.
Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hayti, SD. Pallbearers will be: Jared Namken, Justin Namken, Craig Namken, Tayt Alexander, Evan Peterson and Tadd Biederstedt.
Erna Robish was born on August 2, 1932, in Hazel, SD, to Melvin and Irene (Philips) Robish. She attended school in Hayti, SD, and graduated from Hayti High School in 1950. She went on to work as a CNA.
Erna married Elroy Namken on March 10, 1956, in Hayti, SD.
After marrying Elroy, Erna became a farm wife. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and raising flowers. A person would never go hungry at her house. She would serve three meals and two lunches a day.
She was a member of Hayti Lutheran Church and active in their women's group.
Erna is survived by her two sons: Dennis and his wife, Sandra, of Lake Norden, SD and Steven and his wife, Peggy of Hayti, SD; five grandchildren:
Jared (Lacey) Namken, Justin Namken, Kristin (Evan) Peterson, Kelly (Tayt) Alexander, Craig (Traci) Namken; 9 great-grandchildren: Emma Alexander, Paisley Namken, Jaci Alexander, Cooper Namken, Carter Namken, Conner Namken, Arielle Peterson, Kenzie Namken and Presley Namken; one brother, Burdell Robish, of Eagle River, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elroy; her brothers, Mike Robish and Elroy "Bud" Robish; and her sister, Leona Fordyce.
