Dorothy Hein Obituary
Dorothy D. Hein, age 86, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at a care center in Watertown. She was the widow of Gordon Hein. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 , at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Alcester, SD.
Arrangements are being handled by the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD.
Dorothy was born on April 13, 1930, at Lakewood, OH, to John and Mary (Dudas) Vavrek.
On May 20, 1950, Dorothy married Gordon Hein. The couple spent most of their married life in Parma, OH, where she was the dietician at the Broadview Nursing home for 25 years. Following their retirement, they moved to Alcester, SD, in June of 1991. On April 23, 2014, Dorothy moved to Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. She made many good friends at the nursing home and in Alcester. Dorothy was a very kind-hearted person and was always ready to lend a helping hand when someone needed it. She was a wonderful mother to her five children and loved spending time with her 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Her favorite songs were ‘Amazing Grace' and ‘The Prayer of St. Francis'. She will always be held close to our hearts and well remembered. Gordon preceded Dorothy in death on August 31, 2015.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Phyllis Sekerak, Gail Hein, Natalie Nelson, Bonnie Brandt and Gordon Hein Jr; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents; and her brother, Ralph Vavrek.
