Dorothy Arnold

Memorial services for Dorothy Arnold, age 81, of Summit, SD will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2007 in the Summit Bible Church, Summit. Pastor Joe Beard will officiate. Dorothy passed away on May 2, 2007 at her residence in Summit. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Music will be provided by Sandy Dingsor, pianist with congregational singing. Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD is handling the arrangements. Dorothy was born on October 6, 1925 at Grover, SD to Harve and Nina (Smith) Clayton. She attended rural schools in the Watertown, SD area. She moved to Summit, SD in 1945. Dorothy married Marvin Steuck in 1946 at Milbank, SD, and later divorced. She moved to Watertown, SD and worked at Reaney's, and then at Watertown Monument for many years. In 1965, she married Vernon Arnold at Hayti, SD. They moved to Carey, IL in 1967 where she worked for United Brake Parts. She retired and returned to Watertown in 1988, and then moved to Summit in 1996. Dorothy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, bird watching, and making peanut brittle at Christmas time. Dorothy is survived by three sons: Roger and his wife, Jo Steuck, Duane Steuck, and Harve Steuck all of Summit, SD; one sister, Lois Howey of Watertown, SD; five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, her parents, one grandson, four brothers, and three sisters.
