Doris Kalahar

Doris "Dory" Kalahar, age 81, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at a local care center. Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at First Congregational Church in Huron, SD. 

Visitation will be at the First Congregational Church, prior to the service.

Burial will be at the Restlawn Memory Gardens in Huron, SD.

Doris "Dory" was born in Parkston, South Dakota, on February 23, 1943 to Elder and Emma Magstadt. Dory grew up on a farm alongside her two sisters.

She graduated from Tripp High School in 1961. She then pursued her passion for beauty at Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls. For over 45 years, she brought joy and confidence to countless clients.

Dory was a creative spirit, finding joy in crochet, knitting, sewing, drawing, and painting. She assisted in creating many school artistic projects with her children, as she derived her greatest purpose from being a mom and raising her two daughters, who were the center of her world.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elder and Emma; her sister, Darlene Wollmann; her brother-in-law, Verlin Wollmann; and her brother-in-law, Harlan Phinney.

Dory is survived by her sister Carol Phinney, two daughters, Jody (Casey) Kalahar and Julie Kalahar; grandchildren Hailley, Mason, and Mahala, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
