Donna M. Mills

Donna Mills, age 82, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Prairie Lakes Hospital.  Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Paul Kuckhahn will officiate. Music will be provided by Julie Sulzle as organist.  The funeral will be livestreamed via our website.

Visitation will be at the St. Martin's Lutheran Church on Monday, one hour prior to services.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Donna was born on May 18, 1942, in Watertown, SD, to Elmer and Delores (Legg) Hemiller. She attended and graduated from Watertown High School.

On July 15, 1961 Donna married Maynard Mills in Watertown. The couple lived in various places thorughout the country. Donna and Maynard moved back to Watertown in 2004.

She was a beloved figure in the Watertown school system, where her involvement in the grandma program left a lasting impact on countless young lives. Donna's commitment to her faith was evident through her active membership at St. Martins Lutheran Church. There, she not only nourished her spiritual life but also served as a beacon of light and love to her church family. A creative soul, Donna found joy and purpose in the arts of making jewelry, wreaths, and quilting. Her hands were rarely still, as they were often busy crafting beautiful pieces that radiated her loving nature.

Donna is survived by her husband, Maynard, of Watertown; one son, Steven (Lori) Mills, of Watertown; two grandchildren, Julie (Jon Chapman) Mills and Jamie (Justin) Halajian; five great-grandchildren, Payton, Adalyn, Averie, Spencer and Hunter; two brothers, Bob (JoAnn) Hemiller, of Watertown, SD, and Larry (Lucy) Hemiller, of Nampa, ID. 

Donna was preceded in death by her parents.
