Dolores Stark Obituary
Dolores D. Stark, age 94, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at a care center in Watertown. She was the widow of Lloyd Stark. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Paul Janke will officiate. Music will be provided by Carol Janke as organist with the congregation singing hymns. The family is requested to meet by 10:00 a.m. at the church on Monday for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. with a "Time of Sharing" at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will also be prior to services at the church on Monday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Dolores' grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be: Chad Comes, Jason Hanson, Paul Stark, David Stark, Brad Comes, Scott Turbak, Darwin Stark, Brian Comes and Jamie Hanson.
Dolores was born on December 11, 1921, in rural South Shore, SD, to Levi and Emma (Schmeling) Kannas. She attended country school in the South Shore area.
On June 30, 1939, Dolores was united in marriage to the love of her life, Lloyd Stark, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in South Shore. They farmed with Lloyd's parents until purchasing their own farm 10 miles north of Watertown. After retiring they moved into Watertown where they made their home. Lloyd passed away on July 17, 2004.
She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and the Happy Hour Card Club. Dolores enjoyed dancing, gardening and had a green thumb for growing flowers. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed canning. Dolores and Lloyd loved camping and fishing. She had a deep faith. Her love for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren brought smiles and joy to her.
Dolores is survived by her children: Roger (Audrey) Stark of Prior Lake, MN, Donald (Dorie) Stark, Allen (Dianne) Stark and Vergene (Richard) Comes, all of Watertown, SD, Joyce (Jim) Comes of Waverly, SD, Debra Smith of Moses Lake, WA, Dale (Dee) Stark of
Soap Lake, WA, and Patricia Hanson of Hot Springs, SD; 32 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Marlyn (Donna) Kannas, of Watertown, SD; one sister, June Linderer, of Watertown, SD, and two sisters-in-law: Arlone Kannas and Lucille Kannas.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant son, Merle; two granddaughters, Shayla and Kim; her parents; three brothers: Verlen, Norman and Dale; one sister-in-law, Valeria "Larrie" Kannas; and two sons-in-law, Kenneth Hackbart and Wayne Hanson.
