Dianne M. Cunningham

Dianne M. Cunningham, age 76, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Watertown, SD.  She was the widow of John Cunningham.  A prayer service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed via our website.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Dianne was born on February 28, 1949, in Vienna, SD, to Vincent and Geraldine (Coughlin) Kays.  She attended Hazel High School graduating with the class of 1967.  Following high school, Dianne worked as a waitress at the Pine Tree in Watertown. 

On December 27, 1982, Dianne married John Cunningham in Watertown, SD.  The couple made their home in Watertown where Dianne worked at St. Ann’s Hospital and later Prairie Lakes Hospital in the food service department for over 50 years, retiring in 2020. 

She was a member of the Eagles Club where she held many leadership positions.  She was very active in the Special Olympics with her son Dustin often traveling to competitions throughout the state. Dianne enjoyed riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle, and attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with her husband, John and many friends.

Dianne is survived by her brothers, John “Jack” (Arlys) Kays, of Florence, and Donald Kays, of Aurora, CO; sister, Cheryl (Dennis) Erickson, of Grand Forks, ND; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Dianne was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Dustin Lee; parents, Vincent and Geraldine; and sister-in-law, Jeaninne Kays.
