Dennis Wayne Rolsma

Dennis Wayne Rolsma, age 76, of Arlington, SD, passed away at his residence. There will be no services held at this time and burial will also be at a later date.

Dennis was born on March 25, 1948 in Arlington at the family home to Esther (Olson) Rolsma and John Rolsma. Dennis was delivered by his father. He was the youngest of twelve siblings. He entered into the United States Navy in December 7, 1967 where he received his GED. He was Honorably discharged on October 1, 1971. Although he didn’t mention much of his time in the military he was proud of serving his country.

After being discharged he worked at Tekomsa where he manufactured tools in Wisconsin. Then traveled to Sioux Falls, SD where he worked at Raven Industries. He also was employed at Twin City Fan in Brookings, SD after leaving Sioux Falls. When coming back to home to Arlington he worked for Plagman’s Hardware Store.

Dennis had a very soft heart for animals, cats in particular. He may have been know as stubborn or ornery to those who knew him but he always did things his way. Many family gatherings were hosted at his house where he brought the family together to cook for them or let them camp in the backyard. At one time he was a member of the American Legion. In later years he enjoyed keeping to himself.

Grateful for having shared his life are his three sisters; Joyce Schott of Edmond, WA, “Grace” (Dale) Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD, Marilyn Kelly of Arlington, SD, Dee Rolsma of Arlington, SD, and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Rolsma, five brothers; Don, Sam, Larry, Ron and Dean, two sisters; Arla Kroger, Jan Outka.
