Deane Henrichs

Funeral services for Deane Henrichs, age 88, of Watertown, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in the St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Watertown. Rev. Keith Petersen will officiate. Deane passed away on May 18, 2007 in the hospital in Watertown. She was the widow of Hiko D. Henrichs. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Deane's grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Deane's oldest grandsons: Brad Popham, Kevin Kannas, Jeff Maag, Merlin Heathcote, Mark Henrichs, Loren Maag, Scott Henrichs and Larry Maag. Music will be provided by Ellen Heisner, as organist, with congregational singing and Amy Weseloh, as soloist, accompanied by Matt Weseloh. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Tuesday by 10:00 a.m. for a family prayer service. Deane was born on September 29, 1918 at Gary, SD to Henry and Mattie (Cary) Patterson. She attended school in Watertown. On November 15, 1935, Deane married Hiko D. Henrichs at Hayti, SD. The couple farmed near Rauville where they raised their family of three sons and eight daughters. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Rauville. She was also a school board member of Rauville District #26 rural school. Deane loved to cook and collect recipes, play Pinochle, crochet and solve 'word search' and 'crossword' puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Deane is survived by her children: Doris and her husband, Don Riley, of Watertown, SD; Mona Mitchell of Dunlap, Iowa; Rita and her husband, Lee Faughan, of Clark, SD; Donna and her husband, Marlyn Kannas, of Watertown, SD; Wanda and her husband, Harlan Maag, of Florence, SD; Bev and her husband, Marlin Heathcote, of Florence, SD; Mike and his wife, Linda Henrichs, of South Shore, SD; Janet and her husband, Keith Maag, of Langdon, ND; Dan and his wife, Carol Henrichs, of Watertown, SD and Wendy and her husband, Bob Maag, of Florence, SD; 41 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1986; one son, Paul; one grandson, Bruce Buitner; one great grandson, Brock Vander Kolk; one great-great grandson, Madison Swearigen; one son-in-law, Jack Mitchell, her father; two step-mothers, Alta and Nora Patterson and her sister, Margaret.
