Darlene L. Selken, 90, of Arlington, SD, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the United Living Community in Brookings.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Home in Arlington. Pallbearers will be Bob Hermandson, Matt Spilde, Chris Madsen, Jason Robertson, Dustin Miller, Cody Miller.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to service time on Friday.
Interment will be in the Arlington City Cemetery following the service.
Darlene Lenora Olson was born to Martin and Gladys (Eckman) Olson on December 6, 1933 in Erwin, SD. Darlene grew up in the Lake Preston area.
Darlene married Kenneth L. Miller on August 28, 1950. Together they had seven children: Cheryl, Carolyn, Cathy, Carla, Charlene, Curtis, and Charles.
Darlene later married Marvin Selken of Arlington, SD.
Darlene enjoyed the farm life and in retirement spent countless hours taking care of her lawn and flowers. She enjoyed traveling to her children’s places and spent many winters in the desert southwest.
Darlene in survived by five children, Cheryl (Russ) Hermandson, Cathy Quigley, Carla (David) Madsen, Charlene Robertson, Chuck (Pam) Miller, daughter-in-law Paula Miller.
Darlene was preceded in death by her son Curtis Miller and daughter Carolyn Spilde and son-in-laws Jeff Quigley and Kent Spilde.
Darlene has 11 grandchildren: Bob (Mary Jo) Hermandson, Matt (Shelly) Spilde, Holly (Rob) Fischer, Chris (Jackie) Madsen, Juli (Brandon) Sandoval, Jason Robertson, Jamie Robertson, Jericka (Brady) Lyon, Kale Miller, Dustin (Alea) Miller, Cody (Tricia) Miller, 18 great-grandchildren, and one-great-great granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in Darlene's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church.
