Daniel Roush Obituary

Daniel LeRoy Roush, age 68, of Bradley, SD, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Sanford in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial Service will at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor  Marion Grimes will officiate. 

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Saturday from 1-2 p.m.

Burial will be at Prairie Hill Cemetery in Bradley, SD.

Daniel LeRoy Roush was born May 8th, 1957 in Lake Preston, SD.  He was baptized and confirmed in Sioux Falls.  At a very young age he saved a boy from drowning and became a hero.  During his youth he achieved the Life Boy Scout Award. He graduated from Madison High School and got double Associate Criminal Justice Degrees from Dakota State and University of South Dakota. He married Sandra Lundholm on June 26, 1976 in Madison, South Dakota.

Daniel retired from Malt-O-Meal/Post Holdings after 30 years of making cereal.  Other places he has worked were McQuay’s, in Faribault, MN; Sheldahl, in Northfield, MN; and King Company, in Owatonna, MN.

Dan has lived in Lake Preston, Brookings, Sioux Falls, and Madison, SD.  In 1979 he moved his family to Faribault, MN, where he resided with his wife, for 42 years, raising three children and 23 foster children.  He lived a short time in Northfield, MN.

He experienced several heart events, with open heart bypass surgery September 2024, cancer, having both shoulders replaced and a reconstruction of his right ankle.  He started dialysis in Minneapolis in February 2025, then came home, and had done it in Aberdeen, SD, and finally to Watertown to continue his treatment.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Sandra (Lundholm) Roush; three children, Terrance (Samantha) Roush, of Faribault, MN, Jeremiah (Amanda) Roush, of Owatonna, MN, and Ashley Roush (Guy Swanson), of Faribault, MN,  four grandchildren,  McKenzie Raab, Katelyn Dwyer, Chase Roush, and Alexander Dwyer;  parents;  Bill (Lila) Roush, of Bella Vista, AR;  two brothers, Douglas (Lorraine) Roush, of Buffalo, MN, and David (Charlotte Whitney) Roush, of Faribault, MN. Dan is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ida (Stacey) Lundholm, of Madison, SD, Carol Pelky, of Arkansas; Rachel Hodges, of Florida; Lois (Lundholm) Stacey, of Bradley, SD; Junie (Dorothy​​) Lundholm, of Watertown, SD; one uncle, Neil (Betty) Roush, of DeSmet, SD; one sister-in-law, Tammy (Roger) Olson, of Madison, SD; five nieces, Cindy Wandersee, Katie (Bob Eull) Roush, Devon (Andrew) Larson, Krystal Roush and Hannah (Austin) Eulberg, two nephews, Michael Roush and Alec Olson; and five great-nieces, Alayna Wandersee, Allie Larson, Ava Larson, Averie Roush, Emersyn Roush; five great-nephews, Jack Wandersee, Ethan Larson, Noah Larson, Micah Larson, & Aiden Roush, many cousins, extended family, foster children, and friends.

Preceded in death by his mother Carol Roush; grandparents, Clarence & Mildred Lee, and Wray and Bessie Roush.
