Dale Rothenberger Obituary
Dale John Rothenberger, age 88, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Funeral services will be at a later date.
Born on November 29, 1935, in Hyde County, SD, Dale was one of five children born to John and Lea (Mehrer) Rothenberger. He attended Hilltop Country School for grade school and graduated from Harrold High School in 1954.
After graduation, Dale moved to Pierre, where he began working with the South Dakota Highway Department and met his future wife, Marjorie (Austin). They married on November 10, 1957, in Willow Lake, SD. Together, they established homes in Pierre, SD, Appleton, MN, Watertown, SD, and Clara City, MN. In 1978, they settled in Marshall, MN, where Dale owned Furniture Land until his retirement in 1995. In 2001, they returned to Watertown, SD, before relocating to Sioux Falls in 2021.
He and his wife loved to travel, spending many winters in Arizona. They enjoyed playing cards, visiting with neighbors, having coffee, and tending to their yard filled with flowers.
Dale is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marge, and their sons, Stacey (Sheri) Rothenberger of Sioux Falls and Tracey Rothenberger of Sioux Falls.
