Dale H. Kranz

Dale H. Kranz, age 78, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watertown on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion of Watertown.

Dale was born on December 9, 1944, in Watertown, SD, to Howard and grace (Molstad) Kranz.  He graduated from Watertown High School in 1963. Dale worked for the Nash Finch Company and Super Value in the retail food industry.  He worked in ownership and management positions in the grocery business to South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa for 38 years.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown and a lifelong member of Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion of Watertown. He was also a member of the National Guard, Battery B, of the 147th Field Artillery from 1962 to 1976, and a 19 year member of the Elk’s Lodge #838 of Watertown. Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golfing and shooting pool.

Dale is survived by two sons; Kirk (Susan) Kranz, Brookings, SD, Dana (Dawn) Kranz, Canton, SD; two grandchildren, Aidan and Avery Kranz, Canton, SD;  two brothers, Charles Kranz, Phoenix, AZ, Ross (Diane) Kranz, Troy, IL;  two sisters, Charlotte (James) Coyle, Omaha, NE, Connie (Curt) Brown, Watertown, SD; and many niece sand nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents ; Howard and Grace, and one brother.
