Craig D. Steinmetz, 62, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020, at his residence. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020, at St. Martins Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. Rev. Paul Janke will officiate. Music will be provided by Carol Janke as organist. The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 10:00 a.m.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD on Thursday, March 19, 2020, from 4-7 p.m and prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in South Shore, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be his co-workers at Custom Fabricators and his co-workers at Stones along with the Prairie Lakes Hospice staff. Active pallbearers will be: Jeff Niemann, Chad Niemann, Gary Rieffenberger, Barry Gronke, Rich Schroeder and John Hanes.
Craig was born on May 2, 1957, in Watertown, SD, to Alrine and Jean (Zirbel) Steinmetz. He was a graduate of Watertown High School. He worked various jobs including Custom Fabricators in the shipping and receiving department and at the Stone’s fuel desk. He worked both jobs for many years.
On August 10, 1991, Craig married Tammy Niemann in Watertown. Together they raised two daughters, Andrea and Alicia. He was a lifelong member of St. Martins Lutheran Church and his faith was very important to him and his family.
Craig enjoyed attending various car shows and was honored to be a judge. He loved attending the car conventions with his family. He collected older gas and Pepsi signs. His family and friends were very important to him.
Craig is survived by his wife, Tammy, of Watertown; two daughters, Andrea (Micah) Miller and Alicia Steinmetz, both of Watertown, SD; his mother, Jean (Zirbel) Steinmetz of Watertown, SD; and two brothers, Allen (Markay) Steinmetz and Gary (Suzy) Steinmetz, both of Watertown, SD.
Craig was preceded in death by his father.
