Christine Heki

Christine Heki, age 76, of Vienna, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. Friends and family admired her strength and courage dealing with her ailments until her very last breath with her family by her side. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday.

Christine Heki was born on February 20, 1947, in Tampa, Florida, to Francis and Mabel (Knight) Ehlebracht. She had 4 brothers: Wayne, Chester, Lonny, and Garry.  She grew up and attended school in Tampa. She was active in the Camp Fire Girls Club.

On June 11, 1964, Christine married Charlie Cowart in Sulphur Springs, Florida, and they remained married until Charlie’s passing in October of 1976. The couple had 2 children together, Mike and Kathy.

On September 1,1990, Christine re-married. She married Craig Heki in Henderson, Nevada, and helped raise 3 stepchildren from Craig’s first marriage, Beth, Tina, and Christopher. They were lovingly married for 33 years until her passing. Together they enjoyed camping, bowling, watching movies and they played in a couple’s golf league. Together they shared and enjoyed 12 grandkids and 20 great-grandkids.

Throughout her life Christine worked at Angus Palm, Sandvig’s (Running’s), and as a Nurse’s Aide. She also enjoyed baking and spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband Craig Heki; son Mike (Lois) Cowart of Henderson, Nevada, and daughter Kathy (Russ) Nurnberg of Watertown; stepchildren Beth Heki of Kansas, Tina Heki of Texas and Christopher Heki of Kansas; brothers Wayne (Linda) Ehlebracht, Lonny (Chris) Ehlebracht, and Garry Ehlebracht; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Charlie; her parents Francis and Mable; her brother Chester; her granddaughter Lisa Marie Brown; and great-grandson Jasper Richey.
