Charles (Bud) Vernon Nemitz was born August 25, 1935, in Walnut Grove, MN to Charles and Anna (Lemke) Nemitz. He graduated from Redwood High School, Redwood Falls, MN.

Bud was united in marriage to Janice Joyce Peterreins on September 26, 1954. To this union three children were born, Tom, Vicki, and Mary. The family made their home in Echo, MN where he was a custodian and bus driver for the Echo school district. In 1965, with the encouragement of Chuck and Elaine McCluskey, Bud moved his family to South Dakota. He became the head custodian and bus driver for the Arlington schools, taking over the duties for the newly built elementary school. He remained in this position for many years. For a few years, he was a delivery driver for Terrace Park Dairy. Following that he started Bud’s Painting Service with longtime friend and partner, Bob King. Many stories were shared from their painting years and for anybody that knew these partners you can only imagine how “colorful” the stories were.

Bud volunteered with the Arlington fire department and ambulance service for many years. He was actively involved with Trinity Lutheran Church.

Bud and Janice enjoyed following their children and grandchildren in all their activities. Janice passed away in 2003. In Bud’s retirement years he was the volunteer caretaker of the Arlington School football field. A job that he was very dedicated to for over 15 years. He took great pride in keeping it weed free and trimmed.

On May 21, 2005, Bud was united in marriage to Grace Oleson. They enjoyed 16 years together and Bud learned the fine art of flower gardening through Grace. The flowers gave them both much enjoyment. When the weather was nice there was not a day that would go by without Bud and Grace taking the golf cart for a cruise around town.

Bud is survived by his children, Tom (Mary) Nemitz of Arlington, Vicki (Jim) Field of Brookings, and Mary (Kevin) Davenport of Arlington. Grace’s children Doug (Sandra), Susan (Michael), and Roger (Paulette). His grandchildren Mike (Julie), Tracy (Clay), Becca (Jared), Matt (Katie), Zach (Charlotte), and Erik (Cassie), 14 great grandchildren. Siblings Fred Nemitz, Casper, WY and Carla (Ed Daub) Wabasso, MN. Sister-in-law Lola Peterreins Lamberton, MN and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his 2 wives, Janice and Grace, brothers Dennis and Leslie, sisters Lois and Joan, and one great grandson.

In lieu of flowers memorial to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arlington.
