Charles A. Jones, age 71, of Watertown, SD, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went to be with the Lord suddenly on Monday, February 17, 2020, at his home in Watertown.

Charles Alvis Jones Jr. was born October 17, 1948, at Muskegon, Michigan to Reverend Charles A. Jones and Rosemary Harris. Charles worked in Grand Rapids, Michigan and retired from Consumers Power/Energy after 36 years. Charles decided to continue working which lead him to many places including Texas, South Carolina, Minnesota and finally Watertown, South Dakota. Charles was baptized as a small child by his father, Reverend Jones. He attended Grand Rapids Central H.S. and graduated in 1968. His education consisted of an Occupational/Safety/Health/Environmental Certification Degree and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. Later Charles furthered his education for Small Business and Liberal Arts. Charles has received

Exceptional service awards, acknowledgements, letters, newspaper articles in areas such saving the life of a missing child, numerous hostage situations and working with many members of our nation's best, the GR Police Department/Fire Department and surrounding areas in hostage situations and troubled events.

Charles had many passions, which included Religion, watching college basketball/football, chess, reading/writing, gardening, bowling, photography and talking to anyone about anything. Charles enjoyed working and watching movies in his marvel theater room while having friendly banter with his neighbor and good friend, Jay Jacobs. Charles was a kind and compassionate man that many knew all over the United States..

On July 4th, 1985, Charles married Judi L. Akers at Zondervan's roadside chapel. The couple blended their families together with 5 children: Hillary, Charles, Jennifer, Jeanie and Julie. From then on they made many memories and had plenty of laughs that would last a lifetime. The family took many trips, including some invisible modes.

Charles and Judi enjoyed many things together over the years. Exploring and meeting new people became a frequent thing. New friends were made easily with his gift of words, listening and big heart, many friends became family! Over the years they enjoyed family moments with their children and grandchildren across the country. He enjoyed the work field he was in and anyone who worked with him was always in his thoughts and prayers. Charles had an extraordinary personality who was capable of making everyone feel welcomed and comfortable in his presence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Charles A. Jones Sr.; Mother, Rosemary M. Thomas; siblings, Barbara Berry and Timothy Jones; and a nephew, Todd Booker.

Charles is survived by his lovely wife, Judi Jones of Watertown and his five children: Hillary V. Ivy, Charles A. Jones 3rd, (Jodi) Jennifer D. Noorzai, (Spouse) Jeanie R. Akers, and Julie L. Akers. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Jevon A. Sleet, Jasmine S. Tyson, Jordan Ivy, Mickayla Ivy, Caleb Jones, Jacob Jones, Anna Jones, Tramel I. Miner, Luke E. Sund, Alex J. Sund, Elyzabeth J. Akers, Jayden L. Kalanta, Emma M. Kalanta and four other granddaughters. Charles is also survived by five great-grandchildren; three brothers: David Jones, Joey Jones and Mark (Millicent) Jones; his sister-in-law, Tricia Jones; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Private Family service will be held.

He will be forever loved.
