Charles “Charlie” Tilford Falk was born on February 14, 1937, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was the second of eight children and the son of William C. and Lotus (Dixon) Falk. The family lived on a farm in the Centerville, SD area. He attended Rose Cottage rural school until 1946 when the family moved to a farm near Twin Brooks. He attended Twin Brooks Independent School and graduated from Milbank High School in 1955. He went on to serve in the United States Army.

In 1970, he was blessed to be united in marriage to Sharon Dockter, at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Milbank. The couple has two children, Jennifer and Matthew.

Following their marriage they lived in Milbank, Stockholm Township, and Germantown Township. In 1989 they moved to South Shore. For many years Charlie worked in the Los Angeles, California, area in airplane mechanics. He later went into farming with his brother, Warren, returning to California to work during the winter months. In one particular bad SD winter, Charlie stayed home from working in California to help Warren feed cattle, and lucky for Charlie and Sharon that he did. On one of his regular trips to Gunslingers Bar in Twin Brooks, SD he met his future bride. Sharon was there with a couple of friends, one being Charlie's tax preparer. She introduced Charlie and Sharon and the rest is history. He farmed until 1986, then was employed by Brownlee Construction, Lorenz Co., Milbank Freightways, Dedicated Logistics, West Con Inc., and Sioux Valley Co-Op. He retired in 2010.

Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping and also took pride in his lawn and garden. He looked forward to time with friends for morning coffee in South Shore and senior meals at Stockholm, where he was known for sharing his legendary stories, true or otherwise. For many years he was a member of the South Shore Sportsman’s Club, the SD Trappers Association and the NRA. Some of his biggest smiles came from taking his grandchildren fishing and making targets for them to practice their shooting skills.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children Jennifer (Jason) Woodmansee of San Diego and Matthew (Bobbie) Falk of South Shore; five grandchildren (Claire, Kate, Henry, Andi, and Samuel); and brothers Warren (Eloise) Falk, Kenneth (Sheila) Falk, Douglas Falk, and Wesley Falk. Preceding him in death were his parents, and three sisters, Helene (Kenneth) Reiners, Marcene (David) DeBoer, and Evelyn (Paul) Fox.
