Carol was born on April 24, 1942, to Emil and Hattie (Meseberg) Schmeling in Watertown, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. After attending Rauville country school, she attended and graduated from Watertown High School.

On April 14, 1961, Carol married Leroy Brinley Beynon in Sioux Falls, SD. To this union they were blessed with three children, Sherri, Kevin, and Keith. The couple lived in Watertown where she was employed at Herberger’s wrapping gifts. In 1962, they moved to St. Paul, MN, where they raised their children. Once the children were all in school, Carol worked at Bridgemann’s Ice Cream Parlor, Allen’s Soda Grill and McDonald’s where she retired from after 37 years. In 2017, Leroy and Carol returned back to Watertown, SD, residing on the Meseberg Farm which has been their home since.

Carol loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and extended family. When her kids were little she enjoyed camping and fishing with her sister Marion and her family. She loved playing Pinochle, Yahtzee and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins.  She volunteered at GPL helping to serve lunch with her daughter Sherri. She was known for her handmade baby quilts, and personalized fleece blankets. No party was complete without her homemade brownies! Since moving back to Watertown she became a member of  St. Martin’s Lutheran Church.
