On April 20, 1957, Bryon Nuttbrock was born to Albert and Hattie (Schniederman) Nuttbrock in Willow Lake, SD. After graduating from Willow Lake High School, Bryon attended Springfield Tech to study construction contracting. Bryon traveled to live in California for a short time before returning home to work in construction and eventually start his own minnows and bait business in the 80s. Nuttbrock Fisheries started out with just a pick-up truck and traps, and Bryon would keep his minnows in a milk tank. His dream was for his son, Cody, to someday take over.
In 2013, Bryon and Ann (Gum) were married on Valentine’s Day at the Brewtons after fourteen years together. His family was everything to him. Bryon used his construction background and beautiful woodworking skills to build the house and sheds himself as well as continually improving and remodeling their home. Bryon always joked that he was never finished building.
Being a great outdoorsman, Bryon was an avid elk, deer, and duck hunter and was always working to perfect his duck blind. With his background in construction, he always had building projects around the house to keep him busy. Bryon was a true believer in God and could often be found reading his Bible with his coffee. He loved his simple life and was surrounded by people he trusted freely. His generosity “trained” everyone to help themselves whenever they came by the house.
Bryon is survived by his wife, Ann (Gum) Nuttbrock; son, Cody Nuttbrock; four step-children: Jennifer, Jacob, Jessy, Joshua; brothers: Rod and Larry Nuttbrock; sisters: Darlene Fellon, Alice Kanniegieter, Barbara Collins, and Sandra Lentz; two grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; and 2 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hattie (Schniederman) Nuttbrock.
