Betty J. Harper, age 80, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the local hospital. Funeral services will be at a later date.
Betty was born on June 12, 1944, in Clark, SD, to Hans and Hazel (Altar) Claussen. She attended Clark High School graduating in 1961.
On September 15, 1962, Betty married Donald A. Harper in Watertown, SD. The couple raised their family in Watertown while Betty was employed at Farmers & Merchants Bank, Schuchard’s Trailers, and Karl’s TV & Appliance Store.
She enjoyed many things in life such as fishing and camping in her younger years. During her later years she enjoyed sewing, knitting, embroidery, and several other crafts that kept her busy.
Betty is survived by her husband, Don, of Watertown; two daughters, Kimberly Harper, of Watertown, and Jackie (Evertt) Johnson, of Hazel, SD; grandchildren, Walker Gross, of Sioux Falls, SD, Megan (Brandon) Jensen, of Raymond, MN, and Kristen Johnson, of Watertown; three great-grandchildren, Luke Dailey, Kaylee Jensen, and Emery Gross.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; stillborn son, Frank; and her siblings, Richard (Bud), Roger ( Butch), Alice, Helen, Donna, and Myra (Mike).
