Betty Fordyce Obituary
Betty L. Fordyce, age 89, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at a local care center. She was the widow of Elmer Fordyce. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate. The family is requested to be at the chapel on Thursday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service. Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday prior to services at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Active pallbearers will be Betty's grandchildren. Betty was born on January 26, 1930, in Hazel, SD, to Clarence and Clara (Engwell) Guthrie. She attended school in Hazel. On October 18, 1947, Betty married Elmer Fordyce in Hazel, SD.
The couple made their home in various locations around Watertown, SD.
Betty was a homemaker, raising their kids: Allen, Elton, Susan and Judy. Along with raising their children, Betty worked various jobs in the retail and restaurant business. Betty enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was known for giving them away to people. She was a great cook and enjoyed sharing with others.
Betty is survived by her four children: Susan (Ray) Laudon of Brooklyn Park, MN, Allen (Becky) Fordyce of Canby, MN, Judy (Howard) Wesley of Minneapolis, MN, and Elton (Mary) Fordyce of Sioux Falls, SD; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents; four brothers; and one sister.
