Barbara Tawzer Obituary
Barbara S. Tawzer, age 88 of Arlington passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 15, 2025, at Arlington Methodist Church with Rev. Joleen Pietrzak officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Arlington Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Badger City Cemetery, Badger, SD. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Arlington Methodist Church. Barbara Suzannne married Floyd Robert Tawzer on January 9, 1960, in Wiota, Iowa in the Methodist Church. Floyd and Barbara farmed in Anita, Iowa until 1969 and from then bought Arlington beach Resort at Lake Poinsett, South Dakota, until 1984. They then moved and bought a house in Badger, South Dakota and bought the Badger Café. When Floyd passed away on August 8, 1993, Barbara made the decision to move to Arlington, South Dakota into the Parkview Apartments. Later she moved to Estelline, South Dakota, Nursing Home and Care Center on October 28, 2024, and passed away there surrounded by love.
Barbara loved her family and will be missed dearly by her loving family.
She is survived by her daughter Amy Jo Tawzer of Arlington, SD; son Tim Tawzer of Sioux Falls, SD; son Shaun Tawzer of Arlington, SD. Four grandchildren, Hannah Tawzer (Josh) of Vermillion, SD; Olivia (Matthew) Bierle of Sioux Falls, SD; Jonathon Tawzer of Arlington, SD; Andrew Tawzer of Arlington, SD. Brothers Duane Johnson of Des Moines, IA and Dennis Johnson of Atlantic, IA. One great granddaughter, Aliyah, of Vermillion, SD. As well as many nieces and nephews. Brother and Sister-in-Law, Chuck and Lottie Tawzer of Council Bluffs, IA. Sister in law, Dorothy Tawzer of Lincoln, NE.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Tawzer. Nine-year-old son, Billy Tawzer. Parents, Paul and Edith Johnson. Two sisters Lois Jean Harless and Norma Vivarian; two brothers, William Johnson and Paul Jr. Johnson.
