Ann Filipek Obituary
Ann Filipek, age 98, formerly of Rapid City, SD, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in De Smet, SD.
Per Ann's request, no services will be held.
On August 1, 1926, Ann Filipek was born in Minneapolis, MN. She was the second youngest of ten children born to John and Sophia (Wojtas) Filipek. After growing up mainly in Raymond, SD, Ann moved to Rapid City shortly after graduating from Raymond High School. In Rapid City, she spent some time working at a paint store where she mixed large batches for construction and painters’ companies, but her primary job was as a custodian for the Rapid City School District where she worked for fifteen years.
Outside of work, Ann was very active. In her life she was a member of several softball and bowling leagues. She also tended her own garden prior to entering the assisted living.
Ann is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sophia (Wojtas) Filipek as well as her nine siblings.
