Andy D. York, age 49, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Pastor Aaron Odya will officiate. Music will be provided by Julie Sulzle as organist. The service will be live streamed via the church website.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Friday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Active pallbearers will be Todd Tegethoff, Rod Lawrence, Ryan Lawrence, Rollin Lawrence, Scott Struss, and Josh Cleveland. Honorary pallbearers will be his bowling teams along with the WHS class of 1992.
Andy was born on January 16, 1974, in Watertown, SD, to Duane and Nancy (Geiszler) York. He attended Watertown High School, graduating in 1992. He then attended USD in Vermillion, SD, where he obtained his Master’s in Physical Therapy.
On July 12, 1997, Andy married his high school sweetheart Michelle Williams at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. The couple moved to Aberdeen where Andy worked at Avera Hospital as a physical therapist then moved back to Watertown where he worked at Jenkins and Prairie Lakes Hospital. His most recent job as a physical therapist was on the road traveling to many locations, taking care of many patients. During his career as a physical therapist he earned a degree in geriatric therapy, served on several boards, and was named the SD Physical Therapist of the Year.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, baseball, umping, hiking, hunting, camping, grilling, gardening, going to the movies with his girls, family vacations, and spending time with his family.
Andy is survived by his wife, Michelle, of Watertown; two daughters, Sierra and Brooklyn York of Watertown; his mother Nancy York of Watertown; one sister Lisa (Joe) Haider of Watertown; one brother DJ (Janet) York of Watertown; father-in-law Ron (Pat) Williams; nieces and nephews Tyler Haider, Tiffany (Dylan) Duvall, Michael York, Mali York, and Myles York. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Duane (Papa); mother-in-law Janet Williams; and his grandparents.
