Allan Anthony Block, age 72, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the local hospital. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to services beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In honor of Al being an avid dirt track racing fan, the family requests that you wear a racing t-shirt if you have one.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown at a later date.
Allan (Al) was born on May 11, 1953 to Sylvester and Constance (Ozlouski) Block in Waubay, SD. He was baptized in Grenville, SD.
Al attended country school and also attended IC School in Watertown until 8th grade and then he completed his GED.
On June 28, 1975, Allan married Danette Koustrup at Congregational Church in Watertown. They were blessed with 2 amazing children, Jason in 1974 and Angela in 1976.
Throughout the years, Al worked various Jobs like Watertown Tractor Parts, and Youngs Refrigeration. He started Al’s Auto Service until he bought Lake City Tree Service. Al finished out his days working part-time for Innovative Adjusters until he retired.
Al’s greatest passion was everything dirt track racing. His other hobbies include throwing darts, camping having bonfires, watching WWE Wrestling, watching family and friends play bean bags, and also fishing with his brother Jr. In his final years, Al enjoyed driving around and stopping to visit people and also watching his brother and grandson cut trees. He would always have one of his beloved dogs with him, Peanut, Izzy, and in his final months, Charlie.
Anybody that knew Al also knew that he always had a joke to tell or something to make everyone laugh about. He always had a funny face or noise to make at his grandkids.
Al is survived by his children, son, Jason (Lesly) Block of Watertown and daughter, Angela (Pedro) Auguiano of Milnor, ND; his grandchildren: Jordan (Chasity) Johnson of Clark, SD, Kasey Sholes of Watertown, Tyler Skogstad of Henry, SD, Haley (Cam Lindberg) Block of Watertown, Dominick (Elana) Block of Brookings, SD, Alyssa Block of Castlewood, SD, Dyxon Block of Castlewood, SD, Alicia (Kenny) Mosser of Pierre, SD, Robert (Mayson) Coyle of Vermillion, SD, Clayton Coyle of Watertown, Kile Coyle of Watertown, Maci (Clint) Koppman of Clear Lake, SD, Ricky (Valerie) Ortiz of Watertown, Alex Ortiz of Watertown, Antonio (Zoe) Anguiano of Forman, ND, Vanessa Anguiano of Milnor, ND, and 14 great-grandchildren; his first wife, Danette (Koustrup) Block of Garretson, SD; his siblings: Ramona Whitlock of Watertown, Pat Kinkner of Sioux Falls, SD, Wanda (Walt) Antijunti of Watertown, Bridgette Bufkin of Green Sea, SC, Audrey Pearson of watertown, Becky (Dave) Marsh of Watertown, Roger Block of Watertown, Rick (Diane) Block of Wallace, SD, Ron Block of Watertown, Jr (Donna) Block of Watertown, Wayne (Michelle) Block of Arlington, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Constance Block; his brothers Michael and Larry; sisters: Georgia, Dorothy Schimmel, Vicki Schimmel and Denise Wulf; his in-laws, Rueben and May Koustrup.
