Alan B. Bludorn, age 63, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at his residence in Watertown. Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A gathering will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Rooster Bar in Watertown after the visitation.
Alan was born May 8, 1961. He was the 4th child to Grant (Speed) and Rose (Hansen-Bludorn) Engen. Al graduated from Hamlin High School in Hayti in 1979. In school he got the name “Big Al” which stuck with him forever. He attended trade school for auto body in Rapid City, SD.
After graduation Al got a job at Dakotaland in Lake Norden. After some years of working there he had many other jobs and traveled. He built grain bins in Texas, did construction work, worked at Miracle Steel in Watertown. Al then went to work at the Harbor Bar as a DJ and bouncer. He had many stories to share about his time there.
Al ended up having a neck injury and surgery which left him in pain and unable to work. During this time he met Denise Sukut and became a family man with Denise and son Dane. Later they welcomed another son Jack his boys made his life complete. Denise passed in 2008. Al and the boys, and always a dog, continued on. Al loved dogs, he always treated them as family.
Al was a Packers fan – everything Packers. He kept up with all details of football and could tell you all the numbers and stats. Al always had a smile on his face and a good word about everything – except for the Minnesota Vikings!
Al also loved to keep track of his 3 nephews, 3 nieces and their children. He cheered on the family – took pride in the Bludorn Reunion at Memorial Park in the summer. When his cousin’s daughter, Abby Brower, had cancer and lost her hair, Al shaved his head in support of her. He was a good guy. Al will always be remembered as Big Al and also Uncle Al to many of his nephew, Paul Nebel’s, friends.
Al is survived by his sons Dane and Jack; sister Leanne (Merle) Weelborg; brother John (Joan) Bludorn; nephews Keith, Paul and Rick Nebel and their families; nieces Candice Stangle, Shelby Christopherson and Morgan Bludorn and their families.
Al was preceded in death by parents, significant other Denise, brother Randy, brother-in-law Danny Nebel, and many cousins and friends.
