Twylae Phillips Obituary
Twylae Ellen Phillips "Auntie TuTu", age 58, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at a facility in Garretson, SD. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Deacon Chet Cordell will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Twylae's nieces and nephews.
The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Saturday by 1:30 p.m. for a prayer service. Visitation will be held prior to services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery "Big Coulee" in Peever, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Twylae's nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews along with her Home Health Nurse, Wanda Vanwormer. Twylae was born on September 20, 1961, in Watertown, SD, to Eugene and Pauline (Phelps) Phillips. She attended school in Watertown graduating from Watertown High School. After graduation, she attended college in Madison, SD at DSU where she acquired an associate's degree in travel and entertainment.
After graduation, she spent several summers at Mt. Rushmore working. She loved traveling and in 1983, she came back home to take care of her mother while she was ill.
Twylae enjoyed cooking and worked for Memorial Nursing Home in the dietary department, which later became Prairie Lakes.
Later, Twylae transferred to Dakota Sioux Casino where she was a dietary manager until she became disabled.
She loved line dancing in her younger years, listening to music and spending time with her family, which was her biggest love. She was a voracious reader, fabric painter and adored her pet cat, Sugar.
Twylae was known and will always be remembered for her hugs. Twylae is survived by her brothers, Burton Phillips of Watertown, SD and Adam Phillips of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Paula (Wilbert) Pillatzki of LaBolt, SD, and Marcia (Chuck) Leemhuis of Watertown, SD; six nieces: Michelle (Shahab) Ahmed from Abu Dhabi, UAE, Sara (Brian) Pillatzki-Warzeha of Delano, MN, Nicole Leemhuis (Jeremy) of Shakopee, MN, Amanda Leemhuis (Catlin) of Northfield, MN, Meghan Phillips of Burnsville, MN, and Jaya Phillips of Madison, SD; two nephews, Jody (Tina) Pillatzki of Wilmar, MN, and Eric (Maile) Pillatzki of LaBolt, SD; several great-nieces and nephews; along with a special friend Allen Williams of Watertown, SD. Twylae is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Pauline; infant brother Edwin Mark; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
