Steve E. Wietzema

Steven E. Wietzema, age 47, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Church. Fr. Richard Fox will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Daniella Holmquist-Holida as organist with the IC Funeral Choir and Rosemary Pesall as song leader. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday for a family prayer service. Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD, on Monday from 5-7 p.m. with a Scripture Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be all Steve's former co-workers. Active pallbearers are: Kelly Stavig, Terry Dale, Thomas Benthin, Jim Kriz, Tom Decker and Frank Dally. Steve was born on February 12, 1972, to Robert "Bob" and Sandra "Sandi" (Schmid) Wietzema in Britton, SD. He was a 1990 graduate of Watertown High School. On September 21, 2002, Steve was united in marriage to Kristi Corey in Watertown. Steve worked for the family business from the time he was 14 until a few years ago when he started working for Hometown Building Center in Watertown and most recently at Maureen Johnson in Webster, SD. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, watching racing, the Atlanta Braves, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Steve is survived by his wife, Kristi and their children: Shelby, Brianna and Hunter, all of Watertown; his parents, Bob and Sandi Wietzema, of Watertown, SD; and his sister, Samantha (Travis) Maag, of Florence, SD. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sievert (Alida) Wietzema and maternal grandparents Gene (Delores) Schmid.
