Stanley Adams Obituary
Stanley W. Adams, age 79, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on Monday April 8, 2019, at Prairie Lakes Hospital surrounded by family.
A visitation will be held at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 15, 2019, from 5-7 p.m.
Stanley was born October 9, 1939 in Layton, Utah to Samuel and Hilda (Williams) Adams. He was born, raised and attended school in Layton. Stanley went on to reside in Layton, Utah for a majority of his life. He served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in November 1968. Stanley married Deanna Barton in 1969. They had three children, Joseph Adams, Laura Opdahl, and Marty Adams. He enjoyed working road construction for most of his life until he retired. Stanley moved to Hayti, SD in 2007 to be closer to family. He resided at Watertown Care and Rehab for the last three years where he was beloved by other residents and staff.
Woodworking, history, politics, traveling, cribbage and crossword puzzles were some of his favorite hobbies. He was well known for attempting to talk politics to anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed telling his grandchildren stories about his adventures while traveling, specifically to Australia.
Stanley is survived by his daughter, Laura Opdahl; his son in law, Neal Opdahl; his sister, Ivy (William) Morris; his good friend, Curly (Loyd), his step-son, Fred (Sue) Reitsma; his grandchildren: Sara (Cole) Kannas, Savanna (Jared) Lentch, Dani and Denise Reitsma, Jesse Tullis, Hunter and Grace Opdahl, Tyler Adams; many great grandchildren and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Hilda Adams; his sons, Joseph and Marty Adams; and his siblings, Lindy, Howard, Barbara and Annabelle.
