Roger Gunderson Obituary

Roger A. Gunderson, age 64, of Seattle, WA, formerly of South Shore, SD, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Highline Medical Center in Burien, WA. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. Rev. Philip Long will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday for a family prayer service.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and also prior to the service on Saturday.

Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in South Shore. Honorary pallbearers are John and Sue Hilburn, Lou Tutino, Members of the International Association of Machinist Local 751 Union and Jim Berg. Active pallbearers are Roger's nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews: Michelle (Brad) Johnson, Staci (Jeff) Buchholz, Kevin (Emily) Anderson, Robin (Philip) Long, Raquel (Dan) Gorecki, Heather Hansen, Jess Hansen, Ronald-Tony (Tammy) Gunderson, Melissa Gunderson, Mark (Jamie) Gunderson, Angela (Troy) Jackson, Kalli Heupel and Ashley Heupel.

Roger was born on March 4, 1954, in Watertown, SD, to Carl and Rhoda (Neville) Gunderson. He attended school in South Shore. After graduating from South Shore High School in 1972, Roger worked as an electrician for Goldie's Electric. In 1977 he moved to Seattle. Roger worked as an electrician at Boeing for the past 41 years. He was planning to retire on January 1, 2019.

He was a member of the International Association of Machinist Local 751 Union and was a former member of Bergan Lutheran Church. Roger was an avid Vikings and Nascar fan. He enjoyed time with family and friends. He loved taking care of his yard and took great pride in it. Roger was able to help others by being a cornea donor.

Roger is survived by his brother, Ronald (Fran) Gunderson of Castlewood, SD; and two sisters, Nancy (Ralph) Hansen of Milbank, SD and Gayle (Brian) Heupel of Aberdeen, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Rhoda Gunderson; and his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara & Orville Anderson.
