Maynard G. Dahl, age 91, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at a local care center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. Rev. Janet Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Active pallbearers will be: Roger Rust, Martin Rust, Darin Magedanz, Myron Hanson, Don Larson and Charlie Even.

Maynard was born on May 1, 1927, to John and Nellie (Gardner) Dahl, in Goodwin, SD. He was a 1945 graduate of Goodwin High School. In 1951 Maynard was drafted in to the U.S. Army, spending two years in Korea. He was proud to be a Korean War Veteran, fighting for his country.

On April 1, 1956, Maynard was united in marriage to Gelaine Magedanz, in Revillo, SD. The couple met in Goodwin in 1954. They belonged to the Square Dance Club in Goodwin. The couple farmed in Goodwin until 1987, when they moved to Watertown. He then worked at Lokens Sale Barn and also at A & M Dairy Farm for 10 years. Farming was his life.

He was a member of the VFW Post #6361 in Goodwin. Maynard enjoyed marching in the Kranzburg 4th of July parade for 40 years. He enjoyed playing slots at the casino, watching WWE Wrestling and the Andy Griffith show. Maynard was honest and hard working, never complaining about anything, especially about any kind of pain he was in. He was a simple and humble man.
