Kenneth Nauman Obituary

Kenneth D. "Ken" Nauman, age 94, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Country View Assisted Living Center in Florence, SD. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD. Rev. Elmer Brinkman will officiate. Music will be provided by A. J. Sherrill as organist with Katherine Savage as soloist. The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 10:30 a.m. on Monday for a family prayer service. Visitation will be prior to services at the chapel on Monday. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion of Watertown, and the Military Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Active pallbearers will be: Jason Feyereisen, Kevin Feyereisen, Ryan Nauman, Derek Hoffman and Mark Vossler. Ken was born on July 2, 1924, to Amos and Florence (Lubber) Nauman, in Gettsyburg, SD. On November 5, 1942, Ken was united in marriage to Eileen Markegard at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown. He entered the U.S. Army on April 15, 1943 and was honorably discharged on January 11, 1946, in Leavenworth, KS. The couple lived in Watertown, SD, Sioux City, IA and Rice Lake, WI, where he was employed with Schweiger's Inc. as a truck driver. Ken was also employed at Best Brands and Hubbard Milling. He returned to Watertown in 1994 and has lived here since. He was a member of the SD National Guard of Watertown, the Goodwin VFW and the American Legion Post #17 in Watertown. Ken was also a member of 1st United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, reading, playing Bingo, hunting and going out to eat. Ken is survived by his children: Forrest (Catherine) Nauman of Watertown, SD, and Sharon (Tony) Feyereisen of Goodwin, SD; his daughter-in-law, Mary Jeanne Nauman of Rice Lake, WI; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Donna Bogenrief of Watertown, SD. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; his parents; one son, Douglas; and one step-sister.
