Dora Mitchell Obituary
Dora J. Mitchell, age 88, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at the local hospital. Private family services will be held.
Active pallbearers will be: Brian Sowers, Amy Sowers, Aaron Sowers, Adam Sowers and Nathan Sowers.
Dora was born on August 20, 1931, to Thomas and Ruth (West) Hanson, in Hamlin County. She attended school in Watertown and was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church. She married Dick Mitchell on September 11, 1948, in Watertown. Dora and Dick owned and operated Watertown Glass Company. She enjoyed the babies and young children that she cared for in her home daycare.
Dora is survived by her daughter, Connie (Jim) Sturm of Watertown, SD; her granddaughter, Amy (Brian) Sowers; her great-grandsons, Aaron, Adam and Nathan Sowers; sisters-in-law, Jennie Hanson and Virginia Hanson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Thomas Hanson; her brothers, Dale, Donald and Lloyd Hanson; her sister, Zola Haight; her sister-in-law, Leila Hanson; and her brother-in-law, Marshal Haight.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the doctors and nurses for their care and kindness during her stay with the Prairie Lakes Health Care System.
