Correne Selchert Obituary
Correne F. Selchert, age 90, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in South Shore, SD. Rev. Ken Nelson will officiate.
Music will be provided by Colleen Quade. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and also prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Correne's great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Correne's grandchildren, Kip Bunde, Kelly Bunde and Kyle Selchert, and also Joe Richael, David Brown and Dion Pietz.
Correne Fern Selchert, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Meseberg) Zielsky, was born on November 21, 1928, in Watertown, SD. She was baptized in the St. Luke's Church in Germantownship and confirmed in the St. Luke's Church near South Shore. Correne grew up in the South Shore area. She attended grade school at District 36 and graduated from high school in South Shore.
On May 9, 1948, Correne was united in marriage to Howard Selchert in Germantown Church. Correne was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was also a member of Our Savior's Ladies Aid. Correne enjoyed baking and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with family. Howard passed away in 2007.
Correne is survived by her children: Alaine (Kenneth) Bunde, of Florence, SD, Donnie (Barb) Selchert, of Watertown, SD, and Dean Selchert (Eileen) of South Shore, SD; six grandchildren: Kip Bunde, Kelly Bunde, Angela Richeal, Gina Brown, Ginger Selchert and Kyle Selchert; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, her parents, Louis and Anna, and her sister, Joyce Drake.
