Bonnie Hayes Obituary

Bonnie J. Hayes, age 90, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018, at a local care center. She was the widow of Bob Hayes. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Church. Fr. Brian Eckrich will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Helen Gollnick as organist with Leigh Kuecker as soloist with the IC Funeral Choir. The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 10:00 a.m. for a family prayer service.

Visitation will be on Monday at the church, prior to the service. Arrangements by Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Bonnie's Special Friends. Active pallbearers will be Bonnie's grandsons and great-grandsons: Eric Brooks, Travis Brooks, Devin Brooks, Chad Hayes, Nick Hayes, Doug Hayes and Tre Hayes.

Bonnie was born on December 19, 1928, to Charles and Tressa (Cook) O'Rourk, in Britt, Iowa. She grew up in eastern Iowa. After her marriage to Bob Hayes on February 11, 1949, the couple lived in Maquoketa, IA, where they raised their three children. Bonnie and Bob moved to Watertown in March of 1982, when they purchased Bob Hayes Inc. She was active in their business for several years.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Catholic Daughters, PEO Chapter CE, Elks Wives and Widows and several bridge clubs. Bonnie served on the Women's Resource Board, the Prairie Lakes Hospital Hospice Board and the State of South Dakota Development Corporation Board. Bonnie loved her family, her church and her many friends.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Jan (Mark) Brooks of Watertown, SD, Robert Hayes of Davenport, IA and Melissa Hayes of Brookhaven, GA; 5 grandsons; 4 great-granddaughters; 2 great-grandsons; 2 granddaughters-in-law; one brother-in-law, Phil (Olga) Hayes of Tucson, AZ and one sister-in-law, Nancy Potes of Palmdale,CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob and her parents.

The family requests memorials directed to the Watertown Community Foundation, Women in Giving.
