Betty Fiebelkorn Obituary
Betty J. Fiebelkorn, age 88, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019, in Hartford, SD.
She was the widow of Lawrence Fiebelkorn. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Rev. Janet Miller will officiate.
The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service. Visitation will take place prior to services at the chapel on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom McHenry, Tim Tesch, Steve Gascoigne and Bob Schafer. Betty was born on November 24, 1930, in Altamont, SD, to George and Alice (Schafer) Benshoof.
She attended school in Revillo, SD. In 1947, Betty married Lew Fjerstad in Watertown, SD.
On May 22, 1981, she married Lawrence Fiebelkorn and moved to Alaska. At the time she was working for Quadee.
In 1985, the couple moved to Hartford, SD, where she worked for the West Central School District as a custodian.
They moved back to Watertown after they had both retired. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown.
She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and pinochle.
Betty loved cooking and entertaining her family for Sunday dinners. Betty is survived by her children: Carla (Thomas) McHenry of Hartford, SD, Rob (Twyla) Fjerstad, Kandra (Mike) Ness, Lonny (Lori) Fiebelkorn and Kristi (Bruce) Luckhurst, all of Watertown, SD; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; two sons, James Fjerstad and Larry Fiebelkorn; one granddaughter, Anna; one brother; and three sisters.
