Betty Dahl Obituary
Betty L. Dahl, age 89, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at a local hospital.
She was the widow of Roland Dahl.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Watertown. Rev. Marilyn Spurrell will officiate.
Music will be provided by Lesa Dahl as organist with Burdell Gauger as soloist.
The family is requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday, May 31, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Betty's great grandchildren and her great-great grandchild. Active pallbearers will be: Richard Weatherly, Tom Narak, Jim Kahnke, Karen Reardon, Jill Narak and Susie Maguire.
Betty was born on July 29, 1929, in Kimball, MN, to William and Nina (Shilston) Blair.
She attended country school in rural Sisseton and later Sisseton High School.
She graduated from beauty school and in her later years she obtained her GED.
On May 30, 1948, Betty married Roland Dahl
in Watertown.
The couple made their home in Watertown where they raised their 3 children and she was very active in their activities.
Betty taught Sunday school and was a Girl Scout leader.
She loved quilting along with bowling and playing golf. Betty's kids will remember her best for her ability to play Dominos, during which she was known to hide a domino or two up her sleeve. She was also known for her laughter, friendliness and her smiles.
Betty is survived by her three children: John (Marsha) Dahl of Watertown, SD; Carol (Tom) Narak of West Des Moines, IA; and Jean (John) Thomason of Creighton, NE; one sister, Chris Bateman of Normal, IL; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; parents, William and Nina; four brothers: Darrell, Morris, Robert and Duane; and one sister, Florence.
A scholarship has been set up at the Watertown Community Foundation in care of the Dahl Family.
