LeDene Geiger Obituary
LeDene J. Geiger, age 81, of Henry, SD, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the local hospital. She was the widow of Marrion Geiger. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. John Miles will officiate. The family is requested to meet at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the chapel for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and also prior to services at the chapel on Monday.
A private burial will be at a later date at Good Hope Cemetery, rural Willow Lake, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be: Ashley Geiger, Alyssa Rhody, Tierra Rhody, Kellie Purintun, Toni Goodall, Hayley Goodall, Zaliah Breese, Willow Breese, Joshua Purintun, Scarlett Purintun, Michael Purintun, Raelyne Kittelson and Sebastian Purintun. Active pallbearers will be: Kelby Goodall, Christopher Geiger, Christopher Purintun, Anthony Purintun, Matthew Purintun, Earl Rhody and Travis Goodall.
LeDene was born on June 6, 1936, in rural Henry, SD, to Frank and Lisa (Hovde) McGillivary. She was a 1954 graduate of Henry High School. After receiving her two year Teaching Degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD, she began teaching in the ElRod/Garden City area.
On April 14, 1960, LeDene was united in marriage to Marrion Geiger at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Willow Lake. In 1969 she started working for Minnesota Rubber in Watertown, where she worked for over 32 years, retiring in 2001. LeDene later started working at Wal-Mart, where she worked for over 10 years. Marrion passed away on August 16, 2010.
She was a member of International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Local Lodge 2357. LeDene enjoyed crocheting, reading, and watching the Minnesota Twins. She especially enjoyed time with all of her grandchildren.
LeDene is survived by her children: Monty (Jackie) Geiger of Faulkton, SD, Fain (Roxanne) Geiger and Lynn Geiger, both of Henry, SD, and Lisa Purintun and her special friend, Dean Limberg, of Watertown, SD; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Ilene (James) Ploof of Elk River, MN, and Darla (Ronald) Gould of Milaca, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marrion; her parents; one infant brother; and one son-in-law, Chad Purintun.
