Bonnie Fritz Obituary

Bonnie Joyce Fritz, age 86, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at a care center in Watertown. She was the widow of Edward "Ed" Fritz. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Paul Janke will officiate. Music will be provided by Karen Livingston as organist with congregational singing. The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.





Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Monday.





Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Pallbearers will be Bonnie's grandchildren: Chad Shultz, Bobbi Shultz, Holli Kuemper, Dr. Laci Namken-Stewart, Chad Stewart, Anders (Tove) Fritz and Sarah Fritz and her niece, Patty Foster.





Bonnie was born on October 1, 1931, in Raymond, SD, to Carl and Lydia (Huwe) Olson. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Bristol, SD. At the age of three, her family moved to Iowa where they lived for five years, then to Sioux Falls, SD, St. Paul, MN, Colton, SD, and eventually made their home in Henry, SD. Bonnie attended Henry school from seventh grade through her graduation in 1950. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henry.





On June 3, 1951, Bonnie married Edward C. "Ed" Fritz at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. They were blessed with two children, Tami and Scott. Bonnie spent several years as a bookkeeper for Dakota Welding Supply Co. and Burghardt Supply. In 1971, she started her career as a realtor. During this time, she was broker/owner of the firm of Bonnie Fritz/Jeannette Rogers Real Estate. Since December 1999, she was the General Manager of Coldwell Banker Roby Agency Realtors. While at Coldwell Banker, Bonnie completed the required work for Coldwell Banker University and the Graduate Sales Institute. She received the Coldwell Banker Office Manager's Award for Excellence for 1996 and was selected as ‘Realtor of the Year' by the Northeast Board of Realtors in 1994. Bonnie retired after 30 years in real estate.







She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church since 1950. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her family and following all of the events that her grandchildren participated in. She loved playing Bridge, being a member of the same club for over 50 years and collecting antique glassware for her children and grandchildren.





Bonnie is survived by her two children, Tami (Marlin) Namken of Hayti, SD, and Scott (Regina) Fritz of Nybrostrand, Sweden; five grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Olson, of Watertown; one brother-in-law, Rollie Harrington, of Bryant, SD; and one sister-in-law, Jan Olson, of Ft. Myers, FL.





She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, on July 31, 2016; her parents; one brother and two sisters.
